My assigned goal for this week's Tri Training is to eat 3 meals a day including a protein, a vegetable, a grain and possibly a fruit at each meal. IF possible I am supposed to eat 2 snacks including a protein and good carb in the snack. This eating plan is in addition to my working out.
Let's start with the food! Goodness, eating properly is so darn time consuming. Indeed I have noticed that eating 3 properly balanced meals with good snacks has already leaned me a out a bit. My body is craving good nutrition so that it does not go into survival mode, which means holding onto fat. Planning, preparing and then sittting down to eat is a big job. Each day I am retraining myself to break the nasty habit of eating on the run, and to train my brain to include good/grain carbs in my day of eating. Previously, the reason I was holding onto weight is because I'wasn't eating properly to fuel and feel full. I was reaching for the sugar because I was still hungry and craving energy. Currently, I'm working very hard on preparing the properly balanced meal and then taking time to sit and eat it. Sitting down and eating my nutritionally balanced meal is hard for me because that means I can't really multi task and eat fast to temporarily fuel. In the long run it is better to sit and eat the planned meal, therefore being completely aware of my intake. I want to incorpoarte good life habits to take me to my peak performance.
Speaking of performance, the last five days have made it tough to get the exact workouts in that were scheduled. Power was out for 2 days, and on top of that we were preparing to entertain 70 people at our home in the midst of no electricity. DAMN, life can get challenging!!! I was able to get 2 workotus in last week, a brick and a 3 mile run. Today I did my first workout of the week; a 3 mile run at 6am. This run cleared my head and confirmed that I must workout for my sanity and my physical health too. Now that the storm has calmed, the power is back on, life is somewhat back to normal I am eager to get back to the pool, which incidentally was closed too because of power outage at Lifetime Fitness.
LESSON: Fitness success has to do with food success, which has to do with energy. You can workout until the cows come home, but if you are not fueling properly it's all for naught. Take the time to learn the fundamentals for proper nutrition, and implment those over and over again! Also, do NOT allow people to infringe on your workout time! Invest in your self and invest in your health! PERIOD!
Ok, I'm outta here. Have a super day, and thank you for checking in today.
May the kefi be with you!
