What is charity, really?
Well in Latin it originally meant preciousness, dearness, and high price. The Latin translation for the Greek word agape means an unlimited loving-kindness to all others. Whatever definition you accept, I think we can all agree with Mahatma Gandhi’s saying, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world."
Kiki’s heavy involvement in charity is inspirational. Her team was the top team fundraiser for Step Out Walk 2006, 2007 and 2008 and Kiki’s Krew has raised over 82,000 dollars since volunteering for the America Diabetes Association. She has generated awareness and excitement for diabetes walks by securing celebrities such as Rock Star Marty Casey and WGN personality John Williams as well as elite athletes like Olympic Diver Christina Loukas, Olympic Swimmer John P. Kinsella, Bulls Champ Toni Kukoc, Olympic Soccer player Frank Klopas and World Footbag Champ Scott Davidson.
Kiki’s passion for charity doesn’t stop there. She has garnered sponsorship and friendship of one of the top movie theatre chains in Illinois CLASSIC CINEMAS who have actively participated on Kiki's Krew every year since inception. Hollywood Ed, the Gopal family and Frank have been ambassadors for Classic Cinemas for our walk every year not missing one event.
